It's been awhile that I've been able to share a little bit of humor, enjoy.

Dr. Geezer was bored in retirement and decided to open a medical clinic.
He put a sign up outside that said:  "Dr. Geezer's clinic, Get your treatment for $500, if not cured, get back $1,000."

Doctor "Young," who was positive that this old geezer didn't know beans about medicine thought this would be a great opportunity to get $1,000.
So he went to Dr. Geezer's clinic.

Dr. Young: "Dr. Geezer, I have lost all taste in my mouth.  Can you please help me ?"
Dr. Geezer: "Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in Dr. Young's mouth."
Dr. Young: Aaagh !! -- "This is Gasoline!"
Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations! You've got your taste back. That will be $500."

Dr. Young gets annoyed and goes back after a couple of days figuring to recover his money.
Dr. Young:  "I have lost my memory, I cannot remember anything."
Dr. Geezer: "Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in the patient's mouth."
Dr. Young:  "Oh, no you don't,  -- that is Gasoline!"
Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations! You've got your memory back.
That will be $500."

Dr. Young (after having lost $1000) leaves angrily and comes back after several more days.
Dr. Young: "My eyesight has become weak ---I can hardly see anything!!!!
Dr. Geezer: "Well, I don't have any medicine for that so, "Here's your $1000 back." (giving him a $10 bill)
Dr. Young: "But this is only $10!
Dr. Geezer:  "Congratulations!
You got your vision back.
That will be $500."

Moral of story  -- Just because you're "Young" doesn't mean that you can outsmart an "old Geezer"
Remember: Don't make us old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to piss us off.

There is a new Sheriff in town!

Aug 18, 2015 4:08 PM by Discussion: Windows Discussion

I found this yesterday on the internet and then again this morning over on Major Geeks.

Windows 10 and Pirated Games

"There is some verbiage in the Windows 10 Services Agreement that pertains to this fact: "We may automatically check your version of the software and download software updates or configuration changes, including those that prevent you from accessing the Services, playing counterfeit games, or using unauthorized hardware peripheral devices." This was recently highlighted by the Hacker News. They go on to say, although there isn't any specific mention of counterfeit software, it is not clear if the company is scanning PCs for counterfeit versions of software like Adobe Premier Pro or Office.

However, it is confirmed by the latest report that Microsoft will constantly be scanning your computers to make sure you don't run any illegal copies of Call of Duty, which (rightly so) raises privacy concerns. What happens if a pirated copy of something is detected on your machine? Where (and who) does that information go to? Will there be a knock at your door.....?"

Now this doesn't bother me, I don't play games on the computer nor do I, atleast to my knowledge, use pirated/counterfeit software.  You can click on the link above to read the item from Major Geeks.

So, it looks like there is a new Sheriff in town.  I wonder if they make this capability available to others? Hmmm.  [e digicons]:-"[/e]

I was under the impression that Miscrosoft has always said they would never send out emails but a friend received one.  I tried searching to see if I could verifly the validity of the email but could not.  Has anyone else received such an email and is anyone aware that Miscrosoft has changed their policy of not releasing emails?

I'm taking the approach that it's more than likely SPAM or such.  [e digicons]:sun:[/e]

When I open ODM it now shows nothing under Manage and Installed, under Subscriptions it shows expired.  When I go to Stardock/My Account it shows there are still 30 days left on my subscriptions for Object Destktop and WinCustomize.

Is this a known problem or something new when a subscription hits 30 days left?

I just noticed that the quoting function is broken in the forums.  I'm using IE 11 with Windows 7 64bit.  [e digicons]:S[/e]

On the 16th of April I received an email from Stardock with a 10% discount offer if I took the attached survey.

Since I haven't seen a thread by Stardock about the survey and haven't received a coupon I'm starting to think it may have been spam.

Nah, it couldn't have been spam could it?    [e digicons]:-"[/e]

Anyone else get the email?

Folks I need to give you a very important message/update on Jim (RedneckDude).  He went to the hospital last night with very low blood pressure and very high heartrate (156).  At first it was thought he as having a heart attack but it looks like what is going on is heart is out of rhythm.  I'm sure there is a medical term for that.

Jim, being such a good community member wanted you folks to know that you will not be uploading his skins for the community project today or for awhile.  I passed on to him that there was no big hurry.  He will remain in the hospital for a few days while they run some tests.

Jim does have a FB page so please pay a visit and let him know you are thinking about him.  https://www.facebook.com/RedneckDude2

Thanks

Was just wondering if someone with information can pass on what the current status of WinCustomize and Object Desktop 2014 is?

With Windows 8 and it's updates community members have probably once again been changing their desktops to suite their needs and desires.  Stardock has provided several programs to help folks get back what most thought were useful functions.  New programs such as Start8, ModernMix, Launch8 and Decor8 along with updates to existing programs have made transitioning to the new OS much easier.

So with taking the above in to consideration I was wondering just how much community members were still into customizing their desktops.  Is it just back to minor tweaking or is there still the desire to have a desktop that carries on with changing the look of everything based upon a theme?

You may wonder why ask such a question.

The community, it seems, has gone into somewhat of a hibernation (no pun) with skinning or it may be that just folks are waiting.  I now things and interests of computer users change.  So reply and tell us what you are up to with your desktops.

Along this same line I wonder if there would be interest in a Community Skinning Project, haven't been one in awhile.

It would also be nice to see a Skinning Contest or two.

Here is another question, are Skinning sites still alive and active.  Reply if you have one and what's going on.

Remember folks Stardock provides the programs then the community takes over and shows just what they can do with them.
